The connected series
Introduction
Sometimes we feel that we are part of something bigger. A sense that everything is connected. And through those connections, things take on meaning. The people we meet, the things we make.
You may believe that this feeling is God. Or you might explore how the world is connected through science. How atoms, cells, and social systems work as a whole. But there is a third factor that is increasingly connecting everything: technology. Not because of any natural or supernatural phenomenon, but because of ones and zeros.
I experienced this myself growing up in the 80s and 90s when computers and the Internet became a common thing. And I experience it still in my work as an IT professional, by connecting systems. I even wrote a Dutch book about data integration.
Through the idea of how technology connects things on a data level, I also got an idea of how technology connects our world on a much larger scale. How technologies from the mobile internet to the metaverse affects everyone. You and me.
Chapters
This technological process doesn’t happen by accident, but there are various technological laws behind it. That’s why a few years ago I started a blog about technology and society. There I write about this topic in a bloggy style to get insights into this phenomenon.
In this new blog series “connected”, I combined several topics:
- Technological progress and AI
- The Internet
- Big tech
- Virtual reality
- The Metaverse
Enjoy!
