The problem

Winter is coming. Nights are getting longer, days are getting more of the same. Still, we need to work from home. During the Corona crisis you miss face to face contact. Even as a programmer...

One thing we learned from Covid-19 is that work can be done anywhere. And this is especially true for coders.

When Corona is over, will we return to our old lives? Standing in traffic jams, spending long time commuting to office. Distracted in open-plan offices

Issues, issues, issues. But…

What if… we could combine business targets with pleasure? What if we could combine the advantages of working from home with working at the office?

The plan

The plan is to code at a resort. It’s taking a vacation without loosing days off. Not just that but also making more progress than if you normally work. Meet the code resort!

Take a project team fly them to some resort in November or February and work just on one project. The 10 rules:

1) 5 Week stay

2) 2 sprints of 2 weeks each

3) Work 6 days a week

4) Work 5 hours a day

5) Work 2 hours in the morning in a cubicle alone (7 to 9)

6) 9 O’clock 20 minutes breakfast

7) 9:20 daily stand up.

8) Work from 9:30 tot 12:30, work in open space, discuss meets,

9) No email or mobile in the morning

10) Finish

The result

We all want to get to the team, but don’t want to give up the advantages of home office. Code resort brings a boost to the travelling industry, tourism and restaurants. A boost to our projects. And most of all a boost to ourselves.
